History

April, 1997

CNS was established at Tanashi campus as a research insititute of Graduate School of Science, Univeresity of Tokyo. CNS inhereted a cyclotron from Insisitute of Nuclear Study.

April, 1998

CNS signed “Collaboration Agreement on Heavy Ion Physics” between CNS and RIKEN. (Extended every 5 years.)

December, 1999

Signed Agreement on Academic Exchange between the University of Tokyo and RIKEN.

March, 2000

Moved to the Hongo campus. Established Wako branch on RIKEN Wako Campus.

April, 2001

Installed research facilities in RARF.

August, 2001

Constructed a research building with a floor area of 1200 m2 on Wako Campus.

April, 2002

Established the Nuclear Theory Group.

The first CNS international Summer School (held almost every year since then)

April, 2004

Started SHARAQ project.

February, 2005

CNS External Evaluation by an international committee.

April, 2006

Established TORIJIN program between UT and RIKEN.(Signed in Jun.)

Joined ALICE collaboration at LHC

1st NP-PAC. (biannual afterward.)

Celebration of 10-year anniversary of Collaboration Agreement on Heavy-Ion Physics between CNS and RIKEN.

SHARAQ spectrometer launched

2011年 3月

CNS played a central role in large-scale measurements of environmental radiation following the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

June, 2011

International review of CRIB

2015年 3月

Industrial application started at CRIB, in collaboration with RIKEN

IUPAC approved Nihonium, synthesized by the collaboration with RIKEN, as the new 113th element
