Setting of the Network Switches at J1/E7

We have installed an optical cable for the ethernet connection between J1 and E7.
This network switch is installed in each room (J1 and E7), connected by the optical cable:

S3900-24T4S

How to connect the switch for the configuration

  1. In order to check/change the setting, you may connect directly using the MGT port:
  2. Manually set the IP address of your computer to 192.168.1.x (x is an arbitrary number 2 — 244) ex.) IP address: 192.168.1.2, Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
  3. Then access to the http://192.168.1.1

NOTE: In the connection between the switch and your PC, the IP address of the switch should be 192.168.1.1. (NOT related to the DAQ network) also you can connect via SSH

ssh admin@192.168.1.1

Stacking setting

The ports #27 and #28 can be used for stacking the switch.

S3900-24T4S can be stacked only through the last two 10G optical ports (ports 27&28), and the stack links must be cross-connected. Stack links can be established in module + fiber optical cables or in DAC/AOC.

Stacking can be enabled/disabled via the browser. (Reboot is required for the settings to take effect.)

(upper bar) Configure -> (side bar) Stacking -> [Change Status] disable ↔ enable

If the stacking is properly configured, you can see the other switch as "Unit 2".

CRIB configuration

Presently, the master switch is the one in J1 (unit num = 1), and the member switch is the one in E7 (unit num = 2).

NOTE: Ports 27 and 28 cannot be used as normal ports when stacking is configured. If you want to use all four ports, you need to disable stacking in the browser-based configuration.
