Opening of Postdoctoral Researchers

  1. Title and Hiring Numbers: postdoctoral researcher, a few positions available

  2. Term of Employment: April 1st, 2021 ~ March 31st, 2022

  3. Renewal of Contract:One-year fixed-term employment contract, renewable up to March 31st, 2024 (maximum 3 years) according to research budget, research activity, and research achievements.

  4. Probation Period: 6 months from the date employment commences

  5. Place of Work: Center for Nuclear Study, the Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo (CNS in RIKEN, Hirosawa2-1, Wako-shi, Saitama)

  7. Contents of Work Duties: Experimental and theoretical nuclear physics. The successful candidates will work on experimental nuclear physics with radioactive isotopes mainly by using the devices of CNS (CRIB, SHARAQ, Ge array (GRAPE), OEDO, Active Target, etc), on fundamental physics with radioactive heavy elements, on high energy nuclear collisions at ALICE at LHC, or on nuclear structure theory.

  8. Working Day/Hours: Based on the discretionary work system for professional work, working hours and days are deemed to be 7 hours and 45 minutes per day and five days per week, respectively.

  9. Days off, Leave: Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays and end-of-year and new-year holidays (December 29 to January 3), Annual leave, Special Leave, etc

  10. Wages, etc: ~300,000 yen/month (gross). Commuting and other allowances determined following the rules of the University of Tokyo. The amount for the basic salary is decided based on the successful candidate's academic and professional background, etc. There is also a system for regular salary increases.

  11. Insurance: The successful candidate will be automatically enrolled in the health insurance and pension schemes provided by the Mutual Aid Association of MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and will be provided with employment insurance.

  12. Qualification Requirements: They must hold a recent Ph.D degree in experimental/theoretical nuclear physics, or a related field by April 1, 2021.

FIELD: Experimental and theoretical nuclear physics.

EMPLOYMENT:

One-year fixed-term employment contract, renewable up to March 31, 2023, according to research budget, research activity, and research achievements. The start of the employment is April 1, 2020 (negotiable). Health and unemployment insurance plans are available.

SALARY: ~ 300,000 yen/month (gross). Additionally commuting expense will be covered.
